DB Energie GmbH has issued a tender titled “Hydrogen Refueling Station for Rail Vehicles at Mühldorf am Inn”. The tender was published on April 2, 2025, with a submission deadline for requests to participate set for May 5, 2025.
This initiative is crucial for the hydrogen industry as it focuses on transitioning from diesel to hydrogen-powered rail vehicles, promoting environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
The main objectives of this tender are to construct and operate a hydrogen refueling station to support hydrogen-powered trains on the Mühldorf to Burghausen line previously operated by diesel trains. Specifically, the project aims to deploy three Siemens Mireo Plus H trains and establish a facility capable of providing them with hydrogen fuel efficiently. The chosen location, Gleis 423, is deemed optimal from a technical and operational standpoint.
The requirements include the installation of a single-track refueling system where dispensers will be set up. The facility will be powered through onsite hydrogen generation by water electrolysis. A containerized solution is preferred, which offers flexibility and scalability. Essential infrastructure upgrades, such as an enhanced power supply connection, are part of the preparatory work to accommodate the facility’s needs.
