Ironveld PLC, a South Africa-focused mining company, has signed an agreement with Burnstar Technologies Pty Ltd to produce green energy using its patent-pending Guilt-Free Hydrogen technology.

The Welsh-based company will process liquefied natural gas at its Rustenburg smelter using the hydrogen-based LNG processing technology, which will significantly reduce its carbon consumption.

The Guilt-Free Hydrogen technology enables the production of premium-priced green metals in South Africa at a reduced price. The plant is expected to be installed and fully operational by the end of the year at no cost to Ironveld, as Burnstar will supply and install the commercial plant.

Ironveld is nearing completion of its furnace and granulator refurbishment at its Rustenburg smelter complex, and its first shipments of high-purity iron, titanium slag, and vanadium slag are on track to reach its second-quarter targets. The company’s shares rose 6.1% to 0.35 pence each in London on Friday morning.

The utilization of the Guilt-Free Hydrogen technology is a significant move towards Ironveld’s goal of reducing its carbon footprint and contributing to the global effort to combat climate change.

The technology is expected to enhance the efficiency and safety of Ironveld’s operations, allowing the company to produce green metals while minimizing its carbon emissions.

The increasing adoption of green technologies in various industries is a promising step towards achieving a sustainable future. Ironveld’s decision to utilize Guilt-Free Hydrogen technology is an example of the mining industry’s efforts to minimize its impact on the environment while remaining profitable.

The use of such innovative technologies is likely to have a positive impact on the industry’s long-term viability and sustainability.
