Hygenco Green Energies has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mitsubishi Power to explore the possibility of delivering gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plants fueled with green hydrogen/ammonia. This MoU aims to offer integrated solutions in India and globally.

This Indo-Japanese collaboration in energy security and green ammonia exemplifies a strategic partnership aimed at promoting sustainable development and reducing emissions through technology exchange and joint investments.

On this occasion, Mr. SAITO Mitsunori, Chief Representative, JICA India, stated, “JICA is committed to supporting the development of green hydrogen technologies. This collaboration between Hygenco and MHI is an example of the international cooperation needed to combat climate change and foster sustainable growth. JICA will continuously support this partnership and is excited to utilize the platform jointly created by JICA and the Neev Fund.”

Hygenco will supply prospective customers with green fuel for MPW’s GTCC technology, developing and deploying scaled and commercially viable plants for producing green hydrogen and ammonia based on a build-own-operate model or as a Gas-as-a-Service offering.

Mitsubishi Power is developing hydrogen and ammonia combustion technologies to decarbonize existing GTCC power plants by converting the fuel from natural gas to hydrogen/ammonia. The company has been involved in numerous projects worldwide.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was established under a special law and is a Japanese government agency for implementing official development assistance. JICA is the largest bilateral donor organization worldwide, acting as a bridge between Japan and developing countries, providing aid in the form of loans, grants, and technical cooperation to strengthen the capacities of these countries.
