Hysata, an Australian manufacturer specializing in high-efficiency electrolysers for green hydrogen production, has entered into two Joint Development Agreements (JDA) with POSCO Holdings and POSCO Eco & Challenge (POSCO E&C).
This partnership builds on the strategic relationship established earlier this year when POSCO Holdings and POSCO E&C invested in Hysata’s Series B funding round. Under the terms of the JDA with POSCO Holdings, both companies will share technical knowledge and expertise to jointly develop materials and systems for high-efficiency electrolysers. The partnership will leverage each other’s capabilities to conduct joint activities that accelerate the commercialization of Hysata’s electrolyser technology.
Similarly, the JDA with POSCO E&C focuses on contributing knowledge towards constructing electrolysers that will benefit the green hydrogen industry and its derivatives.
Hysata’s CEO, Paul Barrett, emphasized that this collaboration aims to accelerate the development of Hysata’s next-generation electrolyser technology, which boasts a system efficiency of 41.5 kWh/kg H2. He noted that this efficiency will significantly reduce the levelized cost of hydrogen and transform the economics of green hydrogen production.
Dr. Juwoung Yoon, Head of Clean Hydrogen Research Center at POSCO Holdings, highlighted the importance of transitioning to a low-carbon production system for sustainable growth. Dr. Yoon added that this joint development effort is poised to accelerate global advancements in green hydrogen, contributing to decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors, including steelmaking.
Through these agreements, Hysata and POSCO aim to play a pivotal role in advancing hydrogen technology and supporting the broader transition towards sustainable energy solutions.
