HyTerra Drills in Kansas, Natural Hydrogen Exploration Continues

The Nemaha Project is a significant undertaking by HyTerra Limited, focused on exploring natural hydrogen and helium resources in Kansas, USA. As part of a robust, staged exploration program, this initiative aims to unlock the potential of white hydrogen, a resource gaining attention for its low-carbon footprint and potential cost advantages.

The exploration phase is divided into multiple stages, beginning with the Stage I program slated to commence in April 2025. This initial stage involves the drilling of two back-to-back wells, with a potential third at the discretion of the company. A notable aspect of the program is the flexibility afforded by pre-approved well permits from the Kansas Corporation Commission, enabling strategic selection of priority drill targets. Concurrently, the company is intensifying land leasing efforts to consolidate its position in key areas.

The subsequent Stage II exploration will feature comprehensive geophysical surveys between March and May. These include aerial surveys and planned seismic surveys to inform future drilling efforts. HyTerra has enlisted New Resolution Geophysics to conduct high-resolution gravity and magnetic aerial surveys, spanning approximately 10,000-line kilometers. This scale of data collection is designed to refine geological models and optimize the positioning of subsequent wells.

Integral to the drilling campaign is the collaboration with Murfin Drilling Company and SLB (formerly Schlumberger), who will oversee drilling operations and data collection, respectively. The drilling process itself is delineated into three key phases: exploration drilling, data gathering, and, contingent on initial results, extended production testing. This methodological approach ensures that each phase is data-driven, with insights from each stage informing decisions on subsequent activities.

Moreover, HyTerra is advancing the Geneva Project in Nebraska, an endeavor in joint development with Natural Hydrogen Energy LLC. This project complements the Nemaha operations by expanding the company’s resource base and highlighting HyTerra’s strategic focus on natural hydrogen and helium exploration.

HyTerra’s exploration initiatives underscore the company’s strategy to leverage geological and geophysical expertise in identifying and exploiting white hydrogen resources. The company’s commitment to integrating advanced survey techniques and data analytics speaks to a calculated approach aimed at maximizing resource extraction efficiency while positioning itself advantageously within the emerging hydrogen economy.
