Hyundai has strongly hinted that upcoming N performance models would use a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain.
The N brand was introduced with the futuristic N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo model, which used a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain to produce a theoretical 872bhp. Since then, the Nexo has been one of two popular hydrogen-fueled cars available in Europe, but the technology has yet to be applied to the brand’s performance vehicles.
The RM20e is the newest version of Hyundai N’s road-legal test bed, with 799bhp and 708lb ft from a mid-mounted electric motor that drives the rear axle.
