ICSI Ramnicu Valcea produced several hydrogen-powered prototypes

Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca stated, following a visit to the National Research and Development Institute for Cryogenic and Isotopic Technologies (ICSI) in Ramnicu Valcea (south-central Romania), that several hydrogen-powered vehicle prototypes have already been constructed and that research on hydrogen fuel cells and batteries has made significant strides.

The head of government stated that a sustainable economy cannot be achieved without research funding and that inventions must be implemented and taken into mass manufacturing.

“At yesterday’s government meeting, we approved the research and innovation strategy for the years 2022 to 2027, and I wanted to see for myself, as well as speak with personnel who have worked in research for many years and have extensive experience in the field, how they view the applicability of this strategy and, in particular, the content of the national plan for implementing the research and innovation strategy. I believe that it is crucial for all of us to recognize that if we invest in research, in development, and in everything else, then we are collectively working in the direction of economic development, modernization, and consolidation, as we are discussing a sustainable economy in all of our approaches. According to my understanding, a sustainable economy cannot be achieved without sustainable research and research funding, which should receive all types of resources, but mainly human resources “At a news conference, Ciuca stated.

According to the head of the Executive, institutional research and private research must be connected because “there is a discrepancy, a mismatch between what is happening within the institutional framework, within institutions, and research institutes and what is happening in economic practice and especially in the private sector.”

According to Ciuca, a request for proposals has already been issued, through which 150 million euros would be allocated under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for research, innovation, and production of green hydrogen.

The Prime Minister stressed that plans are in the works for a specific automaker to join this green initiative with specific products.
