Incentivizing Green Hydrogen Revolution in India: Nine Companies to Boost Production

India takes a significant leap towards a sustainable energy future as nine companies, including Reliance Green Hydrogen and Green Chemicals, ACME Cleantech Solutions, and Greenko Zero, secure government incentives to establish facilities capable of producing up to 4.50 lakh tonnes of green hydrogen.

This initiative is part of the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme (Mode-1-Tranche-I), signaling a robust commitment to fostering the growth of the green hydrogen sector.

The primary goal of the SIGHT Scheme is to accelerate the adoption and production of green hydrogen, a clean and sustainable alternative to conventional hydrogen. With a focus on reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly practices, the scheme aims to incentivize companies to establish production facilities with a cumulative capacity exceeding 4,50,000 tonnes.

Among the notable companies selected for incentives, Reliance Green Hydrogen and Green Chemicals Ltd stand out, securing support for the production of 90,000 tonnes of green hydrogen over a three-year period. The average incentive offered for their efforts amounts to Rs 18.9 per kg. ACME Cleantech Solutions Private Ltd and Greenko ZeroC Private Ltd also received incentives for producing 90,000 tonnes each, at an average rate of Rs 30 per kg over a similar period. This strategic push aligns with India’s vision to become a global leader in green hydrogen production.

The government’s support through incentives reflects a broader commitment to fostering a sustainable and green future for India’s energy landscape. By encouraging the establishment of green hydrogen production facilities, the initiative aims to contribute significantly to the country’s renewable energy goals and aligns with global efforts to combat climate change.

As India propels its green hydrogen capacity through strategic incentives and schemes, the nation stands on the brink of a greener tomorrow. The recognition and support for companies driving clean energy initiatives are crucial steps in the right direction, emphasizing India’s commitment to sustainable practices and a resilient energy future.
