For the creation of a hydrogen production cluster, the city of Incheon has altered its business strategy in part.
However, in order to improve business efficiency and upgrade the corporate growth support system, it has been proposed that a hydrogen industry support center and test bed be built in Cheongna instead of the original site of 50,000 square meters in the metropolitan area.
A liquefied hydrogen plant will cost 500 billion won to build as part of the Incheon hydrogen production cluster construction project, and a 1 trillion won hydrogen fuel cell research and production facility is being planned by Hyundai Mobis in Cheongna.
The hydrogen production cluster’s total project cost was revised to 273.3 billion won. If the Ministry of Strategy and Finance’s preliminary feasibility study shows that this project is feasible, the city plans to establish a hydrogen production base and foster the hydrogen industry by 2027.
A hydrogen industry support center will also be established to promote the localization of key components and equipment for hydrogen production, to create a hydrogen production facility test bed for performance evaluation, and to support the sustainable growth of hydrogen companies by cultivating hydrogen industry experts. Hydrogen byproducts and 1,400 tons of decentralized clean hydrogen will be produced annually as a result of this initiative.
