Green hydrogen production will be investigated by Infinity Lithium and Thyssenkrupp in a joint effort.

The partnership will begin with a pilot project at a Thyssenkrupp plant in Germany to evaluate the potential of hydrogen as a substitute fuel for rotary kilns, using the industrial group’s hydrogen burner installation.

Infinity’s lithium project in San Jose, Spain, as well as new lithium hydrometallurgical conversion processes, could benefit from this technology in the future.

As demand for raw materials grows globally and environmental concerns grow, the collaboration was agreed upon in light of these issues.

There are plans for a fully integrated industrial project in San Jose to produce battery-grade lithium chemicals from a mica feedstock by Infinity Lithium
