The Power Finance Corporation Consultancy Limited (PFCCL) has formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) dedicated to an innovative green hydrogen project.

This initiative is planned under the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) scheme, specifically targeting the development of a sustainable energy infrastructure within the state of Gujarat, India. By focusing on green hydrogen, the project aims to leverage renewable energy sources to produce hydrogen, which can then be used as a clean fuel. This advances India’s push toward sustainable energy usage and reduces reliance on fossil fuels.

The ISTS scheme under which this SPV has been incorporated aims to enhance energy transmission capabilities across states. Focusing on green hydrogen aligns with the broader objective of not only boosting power transmission but also ensuring that this power is cleaner and more environmentally friendly. Improved grid infrastructure will facilitate the distribution of renewable energy across wider regions, helping to meet increasing energy demands while supporting environmental goals.

Gujarat is strategically positioned to lead India’s renewable energy efforts due to its geographical and climatic conditions. The state has abundant solar and wind resources, making it an ideal location for deploying green hydrogen projects. The local government’s active promotion of clean energy initiatives also fosters a conducive environment for implementing innovative renewable energy solutions.
