Three of Japan’s largest marine engine manufacturers, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Yanmar Power Technology, and Japan Engine Corporation, have signed a joint venture agreement for joint investment and announced the formation of a new firm, HyEng Corporation.
To contribute to Japan’s decarbonization efforts and to advance the shipbuilding and maritime industries, the three companies have signed an agreement to facilitate joint investment in the establishment of a new company, HyEng Corporation, that will focus on the joint development of world-leading marine hydrogen-fueled engines. This declaration was made during The Nippon Foundation’s “Zero Emission Ships” lecture in May 2021.
With the foundation of HyEng Corporation, the three firms will enhance their collaborative development efforts and expedite their efforts to explore new markets for maritime decarbonization.
