NEOM Green Hydrogen Co. (NGHC) revealed that Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been chosen as the sub-EPC contractor for its sizable green hydrogen facility in NEOM Saudi Arabia.
According to the conditions of the agreement, L&T will carry out EPC power grid and power generation works for the plant. Air Products, a joint venture partner and the major EPC contractor for NGHC, signed the deal with L&T.
The NGHC mega-plant, which is situated in NEOM, will combine up to 4 GW of solar and wind energy to generate up to 600 tons of carbon-free hydrogen per day in the form of green ammonia as a practical alternative for international transportation. Production of green ammonia could reach 1.2 million tonnes.
The project’s sole off-taker will be Air Products. The generated green ammonia will be shipped around the world to be separated, creating green hydrogen for the transportation sector.
By 2026, the NEOM facility should be operational.
