The advancement of hydrogen fuel technology is paving the way for more efficient and environmentally friendly machinery. A recent patent by LIEBHERR-WERK BISCHOFSHOFEN GMBH introduces an interface device specifically designed to streamline the refueling process of construction machines using hydrogen.

The Present Invention

This invention focuses on an interface device that connects construction machines to hydrogen refueling stations. This interface device can either be a standalone component or integrated into the construction machine itself. Its primary functionality is to efficiently manage the transfer of hydrogen fuel from the refueling station to the construction machine.

Drive Unit or Power Transducer

Central to the interface device is a drive unit or power transducer. The drive unit is designed to provide the necessary drive power for transferring hydrogen. This ensures the hydrogen flows smoothly and efficiently from the refueling station to the construction machine. By ensuring a constant and controlled flow, the drive unit minimizes fuel wastage and maximizes the refueling efficiency.

Component Flexibility

One significant advantage of this interface device is its flexibility. Whether the device is part of the construction machine, the hydrogen refueling station, or a separate dispenser unit, it can work seamlessly in different configurations. This adaptability allows for various operational setups depending on the specific needs of the construction site.

Dispenser Unit

Another crucial aspect of the interface device is the dispenser unit. This unit is designed to supply both the mobile hydrogen refueling station and the construction machine with the requisite drive power. The dispenser unit essentially acts as the intermediary, ensuring that the hydrogen transfer process is efficient and controlled, providing a constant supply without interruptions.

Mobile Hydrogen Refueling Station

The invention also emphasizes the importance of mobility in hydrogen refueling stations. By making these stations mobile, the process of refueling multiple construction machines in different locations becomes more feasible. The mobile hydrogen refueling station can easily move to where it is needed most, which is particularly beneficial on large construction sites.
