Bloom Energy, a leading distributed electricity generation company that manufactures solid oxide fuel cells, has launched an operating lease facility with Macquarie.
The funds were used to build a 1.4 megawatt (MW) fuel cell microgrid that is supplying power to a California-based semiconductor component manufacturer.
Macquarie structured a sale and leaseback to Bloom Energy as part of the deal, covering the majority of the system costs for the customer and allowing Bloom Energy to provide the customer with reliable, resilient, sustainable, and cost-competitive onsite electricity. The Bloom Energy microgrid allows this customer to dispatch independently from the grid, removing the need for diesel backup generators and protecting their manufacturing facility from grid outages and extreme weather disruption.
