Plans for a Hydrogen Hub on Anglesey have been approved, clearing the way for Wales’ first of its kind development.
As part of the project, Menter Môn, a social enterprise, will construct the Hub at Parc Cybi in Holyhead in collaboration with the Isle of Anglesey County Council. Green hydrogen will be created on the property and delivered as fuel for hydrogen-powered automobiles with zero emissions.
Construction can start after receiving approval, subject to the allocation of further financing, and the Hub is anticipated to be operational by 2025.
The Isle of Anglesey County Council, which administers the Local Transport Fund, has so far provided the project with £660k from the Welsh Government. The initiative has received £4.8 million from the UK government as well, after a business case was presented. Before the year is over, a decision should be made definitively.
