ECD seeks hydrogen investment
Bob Stempel, the chairman and chief executive of Energy Conversion Devices, announced on Wednesday that the company is looking to raise approximately $100 million for the long-term development of hydrogen fuel cell storage systems.
The corporation has begun that funding endeavor in earnest, according to Stempel, the former chairman and CEO of General Motors Corp. The funds will be used for research into lightening the weight of storage containers.
Rechargeable batteries and flexible thin-film solar panels, which are currently utilized in gasoline-electric hybrid cars, were created by Energy Conversion Devices, the company that made the batteries for General Motors’ all-electric EV1. He also mentioned potential for the emerging technology outside the auto sector, such as home refueling stations. According to him, local governments in China and other nations have shown interest in using hydrogen technology to effectively advance the fight against air pollution.
Omni Tanker and Lockheed Martin jointly deliver liquid hydrogen storage project
The Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) helped Omni Tanker, Lockheed Martin, and UNSW develop a world-leading cryogenic and liquid cargo transport solution for hydrogen and helium.
Combining Omni Tanker’s skills with Lockheed Martin’s aerospace expertise produced two new tanks: a type 4 fluoropolymer-lined, carbon fibre composite tank and a type 5 liner-less tank.
At high pressures and cryogenic temperatures, the tanks store and convey liquid hydrogen, oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, and hydrazine. The tanks performed well in tests, especially at cryogenic temperatures of -269 degrees Celsius.
Omni Tanker’s advanced manufacturing facility in Sydney’s west has produced operational-scale demonstrator tanks for Lockheed Martin’s LM2100 satellite after the project’s success.
Iberdrola España becomes first certified renewable hydrogen producer in Spain
At its Zona Franca Green Hydrogen Plant in Barcelona, Iberdrola España becomes the first company in Spain to receive certification as a renewable hydrogen producer.External link, opens in new window. for the provision of powerful mobility.
This certificate was issued by Enagás, which was the organization that the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge had chosen as the technical manager to ensure that gas originated from renewable sources. Tüv Süd Atisae, a certified company, completed the first audit for the installation’s registration.
China unveils world’s largest cosmic neutral hydrogen library
Recently, a comprehensive and excellent inventory of neutral hydrogen (HI) sources outside of our galaxy was revealed by Chinese astronomers. This three-year study, known as the FAST All Sky HI Survey (FASHI), started in August 2020 and uses the five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST).
