Together with the Luxembourg energy company Encevo, the grid operators Creos and GRTgaz seek to construct a hydrogen pipeline that is around 100 kilometers long.
The Moselle-Saar-Hydrogen-Conversion pipeline project mosaHYc (Moselle-Saar-Hydrogen-Conversion) has been given approval by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) for the so-called “early start of actions” under the IPCEI on Hydrogen program.
This makes it possible for Creos to begin the project before receiving the final funding decision. Creos will now move forward, in particular, with the route design for the building of a new hydrogen pipeline between Dillingen and the border settlement of Ihn between Germany and France.
Creos plans to conduct technical feasibility studies in the upcoming year to accelerate the conversion of current lines between Völklingen-Carling and Perl.
By enlisting the help of numerous market participants, mosaHYc has been successful in establishing a cross-border hydrogen economy with the help of the partners of the Grande Region Hydrogen EEIG (GRH). In the GRH, network operators, hydrogen producers, and hydrogen consumers would collaborate at the appropriate time and location.
In the “Greater Region” of Saarland, Luxembourg, and Moselle, MosaHYc seeks to assist hydrogen producers and users in creating new, climate-neutral business models for the transportation, heating, and industrial sectors.
