The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has launched a tender titled “2050 Security of Supply Monitoring and Assurance Study,” released on July 2, 2024. The submission deadline for interested parties is August 31, 2024. This initiative marks a significant step for the hydrogen industry, aiming to ensure a reliable future hydrogen supply as the sector grows.

Key Objectives and Requirements

The primary goal of this tender is to design and execute a comprehensive research and development study focused on the security of hydrogen supply up to the year 2050. The study is integral for identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them, assuring a continuous and reliable hydrogen supply essential for a sustainable energy future.

To achieve these objectives, the tender outlines several key requirements:

1. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Participants must conduct a detailed risk assessment to identify potential threats to the hydrogen supply chain. Strategies to mitigate these risks should be outlined clearly.

2. Supply and Demand Analysis: The study must analyze current and projected hydrogen supply and demand. This includes evaluating production capacities, storage facilities, and transportation networks to ensure they can meet future needs.

3. Technological Innovations: Proposals should include exploration into technological advancements that could enhance hydrogen production, storage, and distribution. These innovations are crucial for addressing future energy needs.

4. Policy Recommendations: The tender calls for developing policy recommendations to support the growth and stability of the hydrogen industry. This includes suggesting regulations and incentives that could promote investment and development in this sector.

Technical Requirements

Participants are expected to have expertise in various aspects of technical hydrogen production and distribution. Key technical requirements include:

– Hydrogen Production Techniques: It is essential to have a comprehensive understanding of both traditional and emerging hydrogen production methods, such as electrolysis and methane reforming.

– Storage Solutions: Participants should propose innovative and efficient hydrogen storage solutions that address current limitations and future needs.

– Distribution Systems: Expertise in designing robust distribution networks that efficiently transport hydrogen from production sites to end-users is critical.

The tender emphasizes the importance of collaboration between industry experts, research institutions, and policymakers to deliver a well-rounded and impactful study. The insights gained from this research will play a vital role in shaping the future of the hydrogen industry, ensuring its growth and sustainability.

For more information and to submit proposals, interested parties can visit the official RVO website. This tender represents a pivotal opportunity to contribute to the security and resilience of the hydrogen supply chain, a cornerstone of the global energy transition.
