PEUGEOT has become one of the first manufacturers to provide a hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric version of its compact utility van in series production from 2021 onwards, in addition to existing combustion and battery electric models.

The new PEUGEOT e-EXPERT Hydrogen is thus the newest manifestation of the brand’s “Extended power of choice” approach, which enables each client to select the engine that is most suited to his or her specific needs from a broad range of options.

The hydrogen fuel cell electric variant demonstrates the Peugeot EXPERT range’s quick electrification implementation. Following the launch of the battery-powered e-EXPERT in 2020, which was named International Van of the Year in early 2021, becoming the sixth PEUGEOT vehicle to receive this prestigious accolade since 1992.

The new PEUGEOT e-EXPERT Hydrogen features a unique and STELLANTIS-exclusive “mid-power plug-in hydrogen fuel cell electric” technology.

  • A fuel cell that generates the electricity required to operate the car using the hydrogen stored in the tank.
  • A 10.5-kWh lithium-ion rechargeable battery that can be recharged via the grid and also powers the electric powertrain during certain driving phases.

The new PEUGEOT e-EXPERT Hydrogen is distinguished by the following features:

  • Its capacity to travel the entire distance without emitting local CO2,
  • Its ability to refuel with hydrogen in three minutes and achieve a range of more than 400 kilometers on the WLTP homologation cycle (currently undergoing approval),
  • A socket for charging the high-voltage battery,
  • There are two lengths available (Standard and Long), each with the same loading volume as the diesel and battery electric versions.
  • Maximum load volume of 6.1m3,
  • Payload capacity of up to 1100kg,
  • Towing capacity of up to 1000 kg.

From the end of 2021, the new PEUGEOT e-EXPERT Hydrogen will be available to professional clients (direct sales) in France and Germany. It will be manufactured in Valenciennes, France, and then transformed at the Stellantis competence center for hydrogen technology in Rüsselsheim, Germany.
