The state hydrocarbons company, Petroperu, said that as part of the start-up tests of the New Talara Refinery, in the Piura region, started last April 12, the Hydrogen Production/Purification Unit (PHP) is scheduled to start up by mid-May.

He indicated that its construction and equipping has been completed on schedule, including the testing of equipment with energy and fluids inside (commissioning), under the supervision of manufacturers and technologists.

He said that the start-up activities of this auxiliary unit of the New Talara Refinery are currently being coordinated jointly with the contractor Cobra Synohidro, the licensor Haldor Topsoe and the main supervisors.

Petroperu specified that, according to the integral scheme for the start-up of the New Talara Refinery, the hydrogen plant will be required in July of this year, which will not generate any delay in the activities that correspond to the gradual and progressive start-up testing process of the modern refinery complex.

The PHP is an auxiliary unit of great relevance for the New Talara Refinery. It is of Danish technology, from the company Haldor Topsoe. It will allow producing hydrogen in the most efficient way to reduce sulfur in diesel and gasoline.

For its commissioning, water, steam, hydrogen and electric power services, among others, are available.
