NK Ether strives to enter the EU market with its ultra-high pressure hydrogen container tech

At the French hydrogen industry show, NK Ether Co., Ltd. announced its technology for the localization of ultra-high pressure hydrogen storage containers and is aggressively striving to enter the European market.

The sole producer in Korea specializing in ultra-large pressure vessels is NK Ether, which was split out from NK Group in May 2020.

We manufacture tube trailers and ASME storage systems, which are large-capacity transportation equipment for semiconductor special gas, hydrogen energy, natural gas, and different industrial gases, based on ultra-high pressure gas container production technology gathered over the last 30 years.

They created the groundwork for not just the home market, but also abroad markets such as Australia and Europe, by localizing the 550 bar and 990 bar ultra-high pressure ASME storage containers for hydrogen refueling stations, which had previously been solely reliant on imports.

By constructing a Type 1 container (metal material) with proven safety and localizing a 990 bar class foreign ultra-high pressure container utilizing a composite container, we hope to provide a more dependable hydrogen storage system to domestic and international markets.

NK Ether has successfully exported 550 bar and 250 bar hydrogen storage systems to key Australian clients and is working to standardize the market in Australia using ether products. Furthermore, it is aggressively conducting sales in the European market, especially France, which is investing heavily in the hydrogen industry.

NK Ether is predicted to exceed its initial business target by more than 12% in 2022 as a result of these accomplishments, owing to ongoing demand for hydrogen pressure vessels in the home market and the identification of new clients in expanding countries such as Australia and Europe.

Furthermore, the business intends to considerably improve the transportation competitiveness of existing hydrogen tube trailers by completing and commercializing ultra-high pressure Type 1 ultra-large containers this year.

“Our solutions span many industrial industries such as semiconductor special gas, hydrogen energy, natural gas, and various industrial gas transportation/storage systems,” stated Hoseon Wi, CEO of NK Ether. To enhance our market share in the European market, we will study and develop bespoke goods such as Type 1 or Type 4,” he stated.

“We will expand into a world-class high-pressure container producer with the premise that energy and value are safely held in the finest quality containers,” he stated.

Meanwhile, GL Events is hosting HYVOLUTION, France’s largest hydrogen sector B2B (business-to-business) show. More than 250 hydrogen value chain-linked organizations and institutes from the global transportation and energy industries took part this year.

By signing a commercial agreement (NDA) for exhibition exchange with GL Event, a French MICE firm, Korea’s ‘Hydrogen Mobility + Show Organizing Committee’ participated in this exhibition as a combined pavilion. A PR hall was constructed and run in collaboration with nine domestic hydrogen-related enterprises and institutes to explain the domestic hydrogen industry’s trend and foster private hydrogen industry exchanges.
