Caba Grup has placed an order with Nordex Group for 39 N133/4800 turbines from the Delta4000 series for the second phase of the Istanbul wind farm.
The order also includes a Premium Service contract for the turbines covering a period of 15 years.
The Nordex Group had already obtained an order in 2019 for the first 24 MW development process Istanbul-I with five N133/4800 turbines, of which the first turbine is currently being installed and the remaining turbines are under construction. The Nordex Group is now supplying a total of 187 MW of turbines of the same kind for the second construction period. The turbines for this second development phase are expected to be delivered in late summer 2021.
Once completed, the wind farm will be situated 50 kilometers northwest of Istanbul on the Black Sea and will have 44 turbines. The 211 MW wind farm Istanbul is now Turkey’s largest single licensed plant.
With an average annual wind speed on site of 8 meters per second, the wind farm is expected to produce an annual yield of 850 GWh.
The turbines will be installed on 125-metre tubular steel towers by the Nordex Group. Since the Nordex Group is importing the rotor blades, anchor cages, towers, and generators from Turkey, the Caba Grup will enjoy a higher feed-in tariff when Istanbul begins operations.
According to the Turkish wind energy organization TÜREB, Nordex Group will be the industry leader in Turkey in2020, with a market share of approximately 27 percent.
