In order to produce hydrogen and ammonia with no emissions, Enova has allocated NOK 1 billion to three projects.
Some of the money will go to Tizir Titanium and Iron (TTI), Yara and Horisont Energi projects.
Funding will be provided for Yara’s pilot project at the Heroeya plant in Norway to produce emissions-free hydrogen and ammonia. In addition, Horisont Energi will receive funding for a project to produce carbon dioxide-free ammonia in the Barents Sea.
TTI’s Tyssedal smelter, which creates titanium slag and ultra-pure iron, will use hydrogen instead of coal for the final piece of funding.
Enova’s mission is to help Norway, Western Europe’s largest oil and gas producer, make the transition to a low-emission society by the year 2050.
