To become the leading operator of hydrogen refuelling stations for heavy transport in the Nordics, Norwegian Hydrogen is creating a new company called Vireon.

“We are approaching a breakthrough for hydrogen-powered heavy-duty transport in the Nordics. Launching Vireon brings us one step closer”, says CEO of Norwegian Hydrogen, Jens Berge.

Per yvind Voie will be in charge of the new corporation that will construct and manage the hydrogen filling stations. Voie appeals to all heavy transport companies exploring hydrogen and pledges to act quickly and willingly.

In 2023, the first Vireon refuelling station will be operational in Norway, and Norwegian Hydrogen will provide the green hydrogen. The company is working to launch the first refuelling stations as quickly as possible after receiving subsidies to construct them in Sweden and Finland. Refueling stations will be erected at a considerably faster rate in the upcoming years after the announcement of the first station in Denmark.

When it comes to hydrogen infrastructure, the Nordic nations have long lagged behind the rest of Europe.
