NTPC Limited and the Indian Army signed a Power Purchase Agreement to implement a 200 kW solar-hydrogen microgrid in Chushul, Ladakh.

This initiative aims to improve energy security for remote defense installations and reduce reliance on fuel transportation. By replacing diesel generators, it seeks to significantly lower carbon emissions in the region.

The microgrid project is part of a broader effort to decarbonize defense infrastructure. Once operational, it will supply renewable energy continuously, ensuring self-sufficiency in the harsh terrain of Ladakh. This move aligns with sustainability goals and highlights the growing importance of green energy in strategic sectors like defense.

Across the renewable energy landscape, partnerships are enabling significant technological advancements. The NTPC-Indian Army project reflects a larger commitment to reducing carbon footprints
