Oracle Power, in collaboration with China Electric Power Equipment and Technology (CET) and Shanghai Investigation, Design and Research Institute (SIDRI), has unveiled an ambitious plan to establish a hybrid renewable power plant in Pakistan.

This landmark project aims to drive the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia, marking a significant step towards sustainable energy development in the region.

The primary objective of the project is to harness Pakistan’s renewable energy potential, particularly in the wind corridor of Sindh province, to establish a state-of-the-art green hydrogen production facility. With a target capacity of 400 MW, the plant aims to produce 55,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, leveraging solar and wind power resources.

The proposed facility will integrate multiple renewable energy sources, including solar and wind power, along with battery energy storage systems. With plans to expand the solar power capacity to 800 MW, coupled with 500 MW of wind power, the project showcases a robust hybrid approach to energy production, ensuring reliability and scalability.

The completion of the feasibility study underscores the project’s potential to contribute to Pakistan’s transition towards green energy and reduce its carbon footprint. By leveraging renewable resources for hydrogen and ammonia production, the initiative aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable development.

As the project advances to the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) stage, Oracle Power and its partners are poised to finalize grid interconnectivity studies, environmental assessments, and financing arrangements. With Karachi’s strategic infrastructure potentially serving as a key hub for hydrogen transportation, the project holds promise for transforming Pakistan’s energy landscape and positioning the country as a leading player in the global green hydrogen market.
