Reganosa’s H2Pole Tenders Construction of Green Hydrogen Plant in As Pontes

Reganosa, a leading energy company, has initiated the tender process for the construction of a green hydrogen production plant in As Pontes through its subsidiary H2Pole.

The proposed terminal will have a capacity of 100 megawatts and is expected to produce approximately 16,000 tons of fuel per year. This project is part of a larger business initiative in collaboration with Portuguese company EDP Renovables. It has been designated as a strategic industrial project (PIE) by the Xunta, allowing for expedited timelines.

Reganosa is now accepting bids from candidate companies for a turnkey contract that includes detailed engineering, supply, construction, and commissioning services for the future facility. While the preference is to award the contract to a single firm, the company is open to considering groups of economic interest if there are valid reasons to do so.

The estimated investment required to realize the project is approximately 156 million euros. Reganosa has planned the terminal in multiple phases, with the first phase expected to be completed within 24 months. Emilio Bruquetas, CEO of Reganosa, hopes that construction can commence in the first quarter of next year, aiming for the facilities to be operational in the initial months of 2026.

Interested companies have until the deadline of the 26th to participate in the tender process.

The green hydrogen production terminal will be situated in O Tesouro on a 30,000 square meter plot that previously housed the offices of the Endesa mine. This project represents a significant step forward for As Pontes in the context of the ongoing energy transition process triggered by the closure of the coal-fired power station. H2Pole has received support from the Incentive Program for pioneering and unique renewable hydrogen projects.

The construction of the plant, which already has potential clients such as the future Sentury tire factory in As Pontes, is expected to generate employment opportunities for approximately 300 workers. Once operational, it will employ around fifty individuals during the operational phase.
