Rolls-Royce is focusing on the development of small modular reactors (SMRs) as a viable business strategy to increase energy production.

These compact nuclear reactors are designed to be more flexible and less costly than traditional large-scale reactors. The aim is to provide a reliable and efficient energy source to help meet increasing global electricity demands while supporting the transition to cleaner energy.

The company is optimistic about the potential success of SMRs and believes that they represent a significant technological advancement. By concentrating on SMRs, Rolls-Royce plans to address the challenges associated with large nuclear plants, such as high costs and lengthy construction timelines. Small modular reactors could be built in factories and then transported to the site, allowing for quicker assembly and reducing overall expenses.

Rolls-Royce’s strategy involves securing approval from regulatory bodies by demonstrating the safety and efficiency of SMRs. The company is confident that SMRs will gain traction due to their ability to provide consistent energy with a reduced carbon footprint, aligning well with global sustainability goals.
