The Romanian government has extended the deadline for bid submissions for a project involving the construction of green hydrogen generation facilities until August 16.
The initiative is supported by the National Recovery and Resilience program (PNRR, €114 million) and the national budget (€34 million).
The call for proposals was issued on June 29, with an original due date of July 31.
The grants are up to €50 million per project, so if sufficient feasible applications are submitted, at least three green hydrogen plants will be supported, according to News.ro. The projects are expected to be finished by the end of 2025.
These awards are for hydrolysis units powered by green electricity. Energy producers and H2 industry companies qualify.
The overall objective of the project is to construct hydrogen plants with a total capacity of 100 MW, which would produce 10,000 tons of hydrogen annually.
According to CursDeGuvernare.ro, the power generator Hidroelectrica, the Romgaz natural gas company (BVB: SNG), OMV Petrom (BVB: SNP), the Liberty Galati steel plant, several wind energy producers, and the Russian group Lukoil, through its subsidiary Petrotel in Ploiesti, are interested in the production of green hydrogen.
