Swedish company S2H2+Bm is set to make waves in the green hydrogen market with its ambitious plans for a production plant in Morocco, slated to be operational by 2025.

The company, led by CEO Magnus Pousette, envisions a groundbreaking production capacity of 500,000 tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030, marking a significant step in Morocco’s emergence as a key player in the global green hydrogen supply chain.

S2H2+Bm’s strategic vision is outlined in a comprehensive White Paper, showcasing its commitment to disrupting the green hydrogen landscape. The company’s approach involves initiating production in 2025 and establishing the first green hydrogen plant in Morocco by 2030. Pousette emphasizes the disruptive potential of their venture, aiming to revolutionize green hydrogen production through innovation.

The proposed plant aligns with Morocco’s aspirations to become a crucial contributor to the global green hydrogen market. Pousette’s statement highlights the company’s commitment to commence production in 2025 and achieve the substantial annual production target within the next decade.

S2H2+Bm’s plan involves an initial phase featuring the installation of 15 MWp photovoltaic panels to power a 3.1 MW hydrogen plant. The scalable design positions the company to respond dynamically to growing demand. Notably, the company projects an impressive production cost of less than $2 per kilogram of green hydrogen in Morocco, attributing this cost advantage to innovative panel mounting solutions and reliance on low-cost factors in renewable energy production.

S2H2+Bm has already taken steps toward realizing its vision by filing patent applications for its innovative panel mounting solutions, receiving positive responses from Moroccan authorities. Pousette expresses satisfaction with the support from the Moroccan government, emphasizing their positive stance on creating value for the local community.

While the exact location remains undisclosed, the document suggests the southern half of Morocco as the likely site due to its world-class PVPP potential. The company envisions efficient and cost-effective energy production in this high-yield PVPP location. To export green hydrogen to the European market, S2H2+Bm proposes transport solutions using high-pressure tubes in standard containers initially, with plans for specialized tankers in the future.

Looking ahead, S2H2+Bm plans to secure additional capital in the first quarter of 2024, targeting investors and strategic partners. The company’s commitment to transparency is evident in its plans to communicate details of this capital infusion round in December, emphasizing its strategic focus on attracting key investors to support the Morocco venture.

In conclusion, S2H2+Bm’s venture in Morocco represents a significant stride towards reshaping the dynamics of green hydrogen production. The company’s innovative approach, coupled with Morocco’s strategic advantages, positions this initiative as a transformative force in the global pursuit of sustainable energy solutions.
