PT Sembcorp Energy Indonesia, a division of Sembcorp Industries, has signed a joint study agreement with IGNIS Energy and Pertamina Power Indonesia to examine the viability of setting up a commercial-scale clean hydrogen production facility in Indonesia.

Sembcorp stated in a statement that the collaboration is free to assess the viability of creating clean hydrogen production facilities in Sumatra using renewable energy sources.

“To accelerate decarbonization outcomes, the partnership will also take advantage of synergies from each partner’s complementary strengths. According to Sembcorp, this is in line with their brown-to-green transformation and will contribute to the shift to a more energy-efficient region.

The agreement is not anticipated to have an effect on Sembcorp Industries’ net asset value per share or earnings per share in 2022.
