SPAR Switzerland has expanded its fleet with a new and environmentally friendly hydrogen-electric vehicle.
The Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell truck, which weighs 36 tonnes and was custom-built for SPAR, will allow long-distance, emission-free food deliveries on the Central Switzerland highway.
The development of green hydrogen from 100 percent renewable energy was the first step toward CO2-free mobility. It was followed by the six public hydrogen filling stations that opened on the Lake Constance – Lake Geneva axis in recent months.
The clean cycle is completed by the Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell. Just water vapour escapes from the 36-tonne trailer truck, which has a range of about 400 kilometers on a single tank and all the benefits of an electric drive.
In Eastern Switzerland, hydrogen logistics are rapidly evolving, with more green hydrogen pumps set to be installed at filling stations in the near future.
