Hydrogen Rainmakers Poland, supported by Scherpe Tanden, is inviting submissions of non-binding letters of interest (LoI) for its upcoming 20 MW hydrogen electrolyser project in Szklary-Huta, Lower Silesia.

This initiative, developed under the Polish #BGK B2.1.1 grant program, aims to produce Renewable Fuel of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) for injection into the natural gas grid, in alignment with EU Directive 2023/2413 (RED III).

The Hydrogen Rainmakers Project seeks to advance Poland’s renewable energy transition by producing hydrogen through electrolysis powered by renewable energy sources. The hydrogen will be blended into the natural gas grid at a rate of up to 2%, contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and supporting the EU’s decarbonization goals.

Key objectives of the project include:

  • RFNBO Production: Generating hydrogen that meets the strict criteria for Renewable Fuel of Non-Biological Origin under RED III.
  • Grid Integration: Blending hydrogen into the natural gas grid, ensuring compliance with volume obligations and certification requirements.
  • Commercialization Timeline: Targeting project completion and commercialization by 2027-2028, subject to tender and execution processes.

Proposals should assume the following conditions:

  • Collaboration with Grid Operators: Successful certification of RFNBO blending in collaboration with grid operators.
  • RED III Compliance: Adherence to EU Directive 2023/2413 through blended hydrogen routes.
  • Commercialization Timeline: Project delivery within the 2027-2028 timeframe, contingent on tender outcomes and execution.

Interested parties are invited to submit non-binding letters of interest (LoI) by 5 February. S

The Hydrogen Rainmakers Project represents a significant step forward in Poland’s efforts to integrate renewable hydrogen into its energy infrastructure.
