Enables climate-neutral steel production and hydrogen-powered heavy vehicles
Sweden’s largest fossil-free hydrogen facility is now being built with the goal of greatly reducing CO2 emissions, developing local industrial hydrogen production, and taking the first step towards a future hydrogen infrastructure for the transport sector. Ovako is starting a collaboration with the Volvo Group, Hitachi ABB Power Grids Sweden, H2 Green Steel and Nel Hydrogen to invest in hydrogen production in Hofors.
Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser, a division of Nel ASA, has formed a collaboration with Ovako, Volvo, Hitachi ABB, and H2 Green Steel to build a fossil-free hydrogen facility in Hofors, Sweden.
The project’s first phase will require approximately €2.5 billion in funding, the majority of which will be provided by green project financing, with Kingspan serving as an early stage equity investor.
H2 Green Steel (H2GS) will be a large-scale steel producer based on a fossil-free manufacturing process targeting large European OEMs.…
