In order to install and run a utility-scale battery plus green hydrogen long-duration energy storage system (BH-ESS) with a minimum of 293 megawatt-hours (MWh) of dispatchable carbon-free energy, Energy Vault Holdings and Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) have partnered.

The study will be analyzed in a new 130-acre facility in Lodi, California. The facility is next to NCPA’s Lodi Center power plant, which will use a hydrogen-natural gas combination to fuel its combined cycle gas turbines, according to PG&E.
