The Brighton neighborhood of Tasmania has been chosen as the location for Countrywide Renewable Hydrogen’s (CRH) planned green hydrogen project.
The Hydrogen Tasmania Brighton Project, a green hydrogen electrolysis production plant on-site close to the Brighton Transport Hub near Hobart, is being designed by CRH, a fully-owned subsidiary of ASX-listed clean energy accelerator ReNu Energy Limited.
CRH is modeling the generation of 1-2MW, or 430-900kg H2/day from the project to fulfill projected demand from natural gas consumers, road transport operators, and users of diesel. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2024.
Gas consumers in and around Hobart, Brighton’s business community, and hydrogen-powered buses and lorries are just a few of the project’s initial hydrogen users.
Geoffrey Drucker, the managing director of CRH, said that the project will significantly advance the cause of hydrogen-powered transportation and advance Tasmania’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2030.
“CRH supports the Tasmanian Government’s goal of having a fully renewable energy-based state. Tasmania is well situated to lead the way for the rest of the globe in reforming energy systems and creating hydrogen for a variety of applications, according to Mr. Drucker.
In order to ensure that its domestic hydrogen supply plans align with the State Government’s vision for Tasmania’s energy transformation, attracting new investment and creating new jobs in the renewable energy economy, Mr. Drucker said CRH was in discussions with Renewables, Climate, and Future Industries Tasmania.
