H2HS hydrogen project gets €1.8 million funding
The “H2HS” hydrogen pilot project in the Heinsberg neighbourhood is progressing quickly. The State Ministry of Economic Affairs is providing the plans with 1.8 million euros as a first step.
This project mostly involves medium-sized businesses. In Heinsberg-Oberbruch, which will only be fed with green hydrogen, a model town is planned. In addition to being used for heating buildings, hydrogen will also be used to run a sewage treatment facility.
1,200 tonnes of CO2 that harms the climate will be prevented annually in this way. This year should see the end of the planning phase. The Heinsberg district expects that the federal and state governments will provide additional cash.
Minister Urso and Unindustria Torino discuss aerospace, gigafactory and green hydrogen
Large infrastructures, the Aerospace City, the Gigafactory, the AI Center, the Microchip District, the Hydrogen Valley, and the Complex Crisis Area tender were the main topics of discussion during the meeting between the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, and Giorgio Marsiaj, head of the Turin Industrial Union, on Wednesday, April 12.
An explanation in a note reads, “An intense conversation full of food for thought, to ensure Torino serious opportunities to restart its economic and productive system.”
A specific commitment was requested for the implementation of the Aerospace City project, which places the Piedmontese capital at the forefront of affirming its national leadership in the sector and is strong in technical, manufacturing, and training skills recognised at an international level. This was one of the dossiers that was dealt with.
Cid Gomes presents work plan to Green Hydrogen Commission
The Special Commission for Discussing Public Policy on Green Hydrogen (CEHV), which had its inaugural meeting on Wednesday, examined the work schedule proposed by the college’s president, Senator Cid Gomes (PDT-CE).
Cid highlighted Brazil’s significant position in luring investments aimed at the production and use of green hydrogen when he presented his work plan proposal.
Cid Gomes emphasised the growing significance of alternative energy sources by using the example of his state, Ceará, and voiced his confidence that green hydrogen will become very well-known in the upcoming years.
Chinese hydrogen truck en route to Australia
The first hydrogen-powered truck was recently created by Wisdom Fujian Motor in China. The truck, together with 12,000 additional heavy units, is already en route to Australia.
In November 2022, Wisdom Fujian Motor and Pure Hydrogen and Australia’s HDrive signed a memorandum of agreement to deliver 12,000 hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks over the following five years.
The vehicle has a hydrogen fuel cell installed that can produce 110 to 400 kW of power and has a maximum range of 1,000 kilometres on a single fill-up.
In order to ensure that the car cuts the wind more smoothly and consumes less energy, the automaker claims that the cabin concept was based on the most aerodynamic motorcycle helmets now on the market.
The truck is up to 10% lighter than comparable diesel trucks, even with the weight of the fuel cell and batteries, thanks to the use of lightweight building materials like carbon fibre and stainless steel.
The truck will initially start operating with Pepsico in May, moving cargoes around Brisbane. The truck has a twenty-year lifespan.
Three Galician universities coordinate hydrogen investigation
A preliminary examination of the capacities and requirements in the university system of H2 research in Galicia was conducted during the inaugural meeting of the three universities and the AGH2 (Galician Hydrogen Association).
In order to encourage the coordinated growth of research areas centred on hydrogen, the Galician Hydrogen Association (AGH2) has brought together leaders of the three Galician institutions.
The meeting, which the attendees referred to as a turning point in the integration of research efforts, represents a decisive commitment of the academic sector to the advancement of H2 in Galicia, adding to shared knowledge and assisting in the development of a map of research for the Autonomous Community.
The three institutions and the AGH2 agreed to conduct the corresponding internal consultations and report the results at the next conference of work after conducting a preliminary study of the capacities and needs in the university system of research in H2 in Galicia.
