Kenneth Lim discusses future of hydrogen as marine fuel at Connecting Green Hydrogen APAC 2023
The future of hydrogen and its derivatives as a maritime fuel was covered during a conference by Assistant Chief Executive (Industry and Transformation) Kenneth Lim, according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) on Wednesday (26 July).
Lim participated in the panel discussion “Energising the Hydrogen Export with A Strong Supply Chain” at the Connecting Green Hydrogen APAC 2023 conference, which took place on July 25 and 26 in Melbourne, Australia.
He emphasized the importance of Singapore’s move toward a future with low carbon emissions.
Lim emphasized MPA’s crucial contribution to the multi-fuel transition, which included developing Green and Digital Shipping Corridors (GDSCs) with like-minded international partners to facilitate pilot tests and standard development as well as developing bunkering infrastructure, regulations, and financing mechanisms for the adoption of zero and nearly zero emission fuels and technologies.

Tosyalı to use hydrogen in Turkish facilities
Tosyal Holding, a major producer of steel in Turkey, keeps up its transformation and change initiatives focused on sustainability, which it began with over 40 facilities and 15,000 employees across three continents. With the help of these studies, Tosyal Holding, which has recently completed more than 100 sustainability projects using technology, innovation, and R&D, has decreased the carbon emissions of the steel production by 30%.
Tosyal Holding develops its sustainability strategy and roadmap in collaboration with expert organizations; it is prepared with the input of all stakeholders and takes into account international standards and global indices. The company also publishes its sustainability report in accordance with GRI standards. These investigations have led Tosyal Holding to organize its management of sustainability challenges into three distinct domains: “Carbonless Steel,” “Responsible Ecosystem Management,” and “Future of Business.”
Tosyal Holding works hard to modify production methods with a focus on sustainability and employ renewable energy in its operations. It keeps up its efforts to replace fossil fuels with hydrogen and solar energy, both of which emit no carbon. Long ago, it obtained the International I-REC Certificate (Green Energy Certificate), proving that the electricity it consumes is generated from renewable sources. Tosyal also shown that it is one of the producers with the smallest carbon footprint by obtaining product-based EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certificates in its hot-rolled sheet, ERW, and spiral facilities.
