Pickathon 2023 becomes first music festival to ever use hydrogen fuel cell generator

Pickathon, a music festival that is known across the world for its commitment to environmental sustainability, announces a significant step toward becoming a festival with zero emissions in the future. The Pacific Northwest Toyota Dealers Association (PNTDA) and Toyota Racing Development (TRD USA) have partnered to make Pickathon 2023 the first music festival to ever use a hydrogen fuel cell generator to power stages.

This one-of-a-kind generator will make its music festival debut at Pickathon, powering numerous stages and equipment with the only emissions being clean air and pure water. It is based on Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology developed for the Toyota Mirai road car. The Hydrogen Fuel Cell Generator, developed by TRD USA with assistance from Toyota’s Fuel Cell Solutions Group, is a major advancement in clean energy production that uses only hydrogen gas and oxygen from the surrounding air and produces no harmful pollutants. The creative initiatives of Pickathon center on developing a Zero Waste, Zero Emissions ethos for all music festivals.

Kenneth Lim discusses future of hydrogen as marine fuel at Connecting Green Hydrogen APAC 2023

The future of hydrogen and its derivatives as a maritime fuel was covered during a conference by Assistant Chief Executive (Industry and Transformation) Kenneth Lim, according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) on Wednesday (26 July).

Lim participated in the panel discussion “Energising the Hydrogen Export with A Strong Supply Chain” at the Connecting Green Hydrogen APAC 2023 conference, which took place on July 25 and 26 in Melbourne, Australia.

He emphasized the importance of Singapore’s move toward a future with low carbon emissions.

Lim emphasized MPA’s crucial contribution to the multi-fuel transition, which included developing Green and Digital Shipping Corridors (GDSCs) with like-minded international partners to facilitate pilot tests and standard development as well as developing bunkering infrastructure, regulations, and financing mechanisms for the adoption of zero and nearly zero emission fuels and technologies.

    HSE inks Valle Idrogeno deal

The so-called “North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley” initiative will receive EU money thanks to a deal that Slovenian business HSE signed with the Clean Hydrogen Partnership.

Slovenia, Croatia, and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, represented by HSE, signed the contract on behalf of all the participating nations and regions, but no other information was provided. The 34 organizations involved in the initiative span every step of the hydrogen value chain, from production and storage to distribution and ultimate usage in a variety of industries, particularly transportation and industry.

Tosyalı to use hydrogen in Turkish facilities

Tosyal Holding, a major producer of steel in Turkey, keeps up its transformation and change initiatives focused on sustainability, which it began with over 40 facilities and 15,000 employees across three continents. With the help of these studies, Tosyal Holding, which has recently completed more than 100 sustainability projects using technology, innovation, and R&D, has decreased the carbon emissions of the steel production by 30%.

Tosyal Holding develops its sustainability strategy and roadmap in collaboration with expert organizations; it is prepared with the input of all stakeholders and takes into account international standards and global indices. The company also publishes its sustainability report in accordance with GRI standards. These investigations have led Tosyal Holding to organize its management of sustainability challenges into three distinct domains: “Carbonless Steel,” “Responsible Ecosystem Management,” and “Future of Business.”

Tosyal Holding works hard to modify production methods with a focus on sustainability and employ renewable energy in its operations. It keeps up its efforts to replace fossil fuels with hydrogen and solar energy, both of which emit no carbon. Long ago, it obtained the International I-REC Certificate (Green Energy Certificate), proving that the electricity it consumes is generated from renewable sources. Tosyal also shown that it is one of the producers with the smallest carbon footprint by obtaining product-based EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certificates in its hot-rolled sheet, ERW, and spiral facilities.
