Green hydrogen helps the Escombreras Valley become an industrial leader

Noelia Arroyo, the mayoress, met with Antonio Mestre, the president of the Valle de Escombreras Business Association (AEVE), and other members of its board of directors to discuss the progress of the Valle de Escombreras’ transformation projects, as well as its sustainability, mobility, and urban qualification, as well as to envision the Valley’s continued development as the major economic driver of Cartagena.

The Escombrera Valley is a recognized industrial hub that has drawn multimillion dollar investments as a result of industrial projects that various businesses want to undertake as a result of licenses the City Council has issued. This evaluation meeting has covered both the ongoing projects and those that will be completed in the medium and long terms.

The enhancement of public transportation by the City Council to offer a better service to the Escombreras Valley has been one of the topics that have been explored.

Loop Energy provides fuel cells for Wiggins Lift hydrogen-powered forklifts

The fuel cell technology for Wiggins Lift Co.’s new hydrogen-powered eBull forklift truck has been chosen by the US company Loop Energy.

The commercial deployment of the hydrogen-electric forklifts is anticipated to begin in late 2023, giving port, marina, and warehouse operators in the US access to zero-emission forklifts. Plans call for delivering the system in the second quarter of 2023.

Due to the operating advantages of fuel cells, such as quick refueling times and the capacity to handle a variety of duty cycles, Wiggins chose hydrogen.

First Hydrogen evaluates light commercial vehicles

First Hydrogen is accumulating miles and evaluating its zero-emission light commercial vehicles (LCVs) to maximize efficiency before deploying them to fleet clients by March 2023.

First Hydrogen says its two demonstrator vehicles can go 400-600km on a single refueling, which takes less than five minutes, depending on the route. The powertrain specialists AVL will test the vehicles in urban, rural, and highway duty cycles.

Data obtained from the two hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicles utilizing onboard equipment will allow First Hydrogen to properly assess fuel usage and vehicle range in different driving circumstances. It will let the company use AI to estimate energy use, optimize fuel efficiency, and find development opportunities. First Hydrogen’s Generation II concept vehicle and other zero-emission vehicles will be tested.

Data analysis will follow mid-March tests. First statistics are due by mid-March 2023 and will assist First Hydrogen engineers to present the cars’ competitive total cost of ownership, which is essential information for commercial fleet managers investing in new vehicles.

First Hydrogen will finish testing before sending its two vans to key UK fleet operators for trials with the Aggregated Hydrogen Freight Consortium (AFHC).

Fendt demonstrates hydrogen tractors; delivery to test farms in Emsland planned for April

A hydrogen summit was held at the invitation of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy. There was the first demonstration of Fendt’s hydrogen tractor prototype.

For the energy transition, agriculture and forestry are crucial. This holds true for both the production and consumption of energy on farms and for agricultural equipment.

Under the heading “Opportunities and possibilities for agriculture and forestry,” the Straubing hydrogen summit explored the technological potentials and actual uses of hydrogen in agriculture and forestry. The participants were drawn from a variety of backgrounds, including practice, association work, politics, and science.

Fendt is taking part in the H2Agrar agricultural model project in Lower Saxony alongside other partners to investigate a hydrogen infrastructure for agricultural usage. For the first time, prototypes of a tractor driven by hydrogen will be regularly utilized on farms as part of the model project. For this reason, in April 2023, Fendt will send its two first-generation prototypes to farms in Haren (Emsland), Lower Saxony. The project’s goal is to investigate and set up a hydrogen infrastructure for agriculture in the Emsland model region. The DLG Agrifuture Idea Award 2022 has already been given to the proposal.
