Eight hydrogen recharge stations will be installed as part of two Spanish projects that will receive more than 14 million euros in help from the European Commission to promote environmentally friendly mobility.
In particular, Repsol will receive 12,826,368 million euros in support for a proposal to build six charging stations in the Trans-European Transport network, while another plan to build two more in Madrid would get 1,215,411 million.
18 additional hydrogen refueling stations will be installed as part of a French project in addition to the Spanish ones, in the major core metropolitan nodes of France, Spain, Portugal, and Belgium.
Via the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Instrument (AFIF), the EU will fund 26 projects in Estonia, France, Germany, Finland, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, and the Netherlands for a total of roughly 189 million euros.
While four projects will support the electrification of ground assistance services at airports, including its electrification and the installation of charging infrastructure for service vehicles, the European Commissioner for Transport, Adina Valean, has highlighted that this investment will result in about 2,000 recharging points and about 63 hydrogen refueling stations.
The H2Med green hydrogen corridor will be installed in the Valencian Community thanks to a 575 million investment from Enagás. To maximize the impact of investments, the EU will deploy the AFIF, a tool that combines funds from financial institutions with subsidies from the “Connect Europe” mechanism.
