Ukraine’s GTSOU, along with several major organizations, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to pave the way for the Ukraine-EU Hydrogen Corridor.
This agreement aims to successfully integrate Ukraine’s renewable energy potential into the European market. The project involves collaborating with companies like Stadtwerke München, Wien Energie, and more to create a sustainable energy pathway.
The primary goal is to develop Ukraine’s renewable energy and hydrogen production capabilities. By 2030, the green hydrogen produced will be sent via a repurposed pipeline network through Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany. This marks Ukraine’s commitment to becoming a key player in European energy transformation.
Achieving this vision requires substantial investment in infrastructure and aligning regulations across borders. The collaboration, driven by the Ukraine Green Industrial Recovery Platform, also involves support from organizations like Breakthrough Energy and McKinsey. Ukraine’s Economy Ministry and Energy Ministry are also backing the initiative.
This hydrogen project is also a continuation of a Memorandum of Strategic Partnership signed in 2023. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen agreed on a partnership focusing on biomethane, hydrogen, and synthetic gases.
