Ukrainian authorities are drafting a strategy for hydrogen energy growth in the country until 2030, which will include the option of manufacturing pink and green hydrogen.

This was confirmed by the press service of Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy.

Pink hydrogen will be produced using nuclear energy, whereas green hydrogen will be produced utilizing renewable energy sources.

Earlier this year, Ukraine’s Deputy Energy Minister Y. Podkomornaya met with R. Curtis, the Australian embassy’s deputy head of mission and consul in Ukraine, during which the parties agreed to collaborate on hydrogen energy research between their nations’ specialists.

At the Ministry of Energy, an interdepartmental working group is currently developing a Strategy for Hydrogen Energy Development in Ukraine through 2030.

The paper is expected to be completed by spring 2022.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister D. Kuleba has suggested that Ukraine may begin exporting hydrogen produced from renewable energy sources to the EU by 2024.
