Protium Green Solutions (Protium), the leading green hydrogen energy services company in the United Kingdom, announces the establishment of Protium Scotland, managed by newly appointed Chief Commercial Officer Jon Clipsham.

Protium’s activities in the green hydrogen market continues to highlight the potential of green hydrogen for businesses speeding their net zero initiatives, following a year of considerable growth for the London-based firm.

With Protium’s expansion into Wales, its projects and pipeline continue to grow as the public and private sectors’ thirst for capital increases, with CAPEX totaling more than £1 billion for projects in the aviation, road transport, alcoholic production, and food and beverage industries.

Protium established a presence in Scotland to serve its expanding project portfolio in the region, which presently includes three clients and further projects in the pipeline. Clipsham will head Protium’s client engagement team across all UK regions, assisting existing clients in furthering their decarbonization efforts through Protium’s accelerated projects.

Clipsham has been hired to lead the Scotland-based operation, bringing more than 30 years of experience in the chemicals business and more than five years in the green hydrogen space.

Jon has established and led a number of projects that contributed to the expansion of Orkney’s green hydrogen eco-system, and he also plays a significant role in influencing Scotland’s hydrogen policies and regulation as a Board member of the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA). He also lectures at a number of prestigious Scottish universities and educational institutions (covering hydrogen and renewable energy).

Jon Clipsham said: “I am delighted to join Protium at such a pivotal and exciting time for the company. I fully align with Protium’s mission of taking action and delivering change while policy and industry catches up. I look forward to working with the team and its clients in supporting the national energy transition and am proud to be joining forces with other experts in the field who share the same vision.”

Chris Jackson, CEO of Protium, said: “I am extremely proud to welcome Jon who will be a driving force for Protium. We can see first-hand how the appetite for green hydrogen is increasing so leveraging Jon’s expertise and technical capabilities will be instrumental in delivering the best result for our clients – I am confident we’ll be able to demonstrate how green hydrogen is an exciting solution for these organisations overhauling their decarbonization efforts.

“As we approach the second year of the business this milestone marks an important step for Protium as our client portfolio continues to grow, government support steadily increases and as UK-brands explore sustainable energy alternatives.”
