In order to build a green hydrogen production facility on 200 acres as part of the Valley Link Rail project, the Tri-Valley – San Joaquin Valley Regional Rail Authority and the City of Tracy, California, have signed a definitive agreement.

The building will help the authority achieve its aim of making the Valley Link Rail project the first passenger rail system in California to run on green, locally produced hydrogen.

By creating a 42-mile, 7-stop rail connection between the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station and the North Lathrop Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) station, the Valley Link Rail project seeks to address a significant gap in the state’s rail network.

By 2040, 33,000 daily riders are anticipated to use this route. It is anticipated that work will start in 2025 on the inaugural operating segment between the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station and the Mountain House station.
