Sri Lanka sees potential in Trincomalee port for green hydrogen development

The President of Sri Lanka notes that due to Trincomalee’s proximity to the North, which contains numerous sources of green hydrogen, renewable energy, and robust wind power in Sri Lanka, it has been considered as a prospective port for green hydrogen.

This was mentioned by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in a recent discussion at the President’s Office with investors who were present for the Sri Lanka Green Energy Summit.

According to President Wickremesinghe, Sri Lanka’s economy might be strengthened by moving toward a green economy. He emphasized that because of its natural resources and the knowledgeable investors present at the meeting, Sri Lanka has the potential to lead Asia in green energy.

Airbikie to use green hydrogen to run distillery

With the installation of a new 1MW wind turbine to produce renewable energy, Arbikie Highland Estate has completed the most recent phase of its goal to become the first green hydrogen-powered distillery in the entire globe.

After producing Nàdar, the first climate-positive gin and vodka in the world, in collaboration with the James Hutton Institute and Abertay University, Arbikie is now well on its way to become one of the most sustainable distilleries in the world.

In order to power its distillery with green hydrogen, Arbikie is currently collaborating with Locogen and Logan Energy. In an electrolyser, water will be split using renewable power generated by a wind turbine to produce green hydrogen. This will be utilized to run the Arbikie Distillery’s boiler, which is compatible with hydrogen.

easyJet wants to use hydrogen in short-haul flights

EasyJet is dedicated to investing in clean technologies, such as hydrogen planes, to ultimately achieve zero-carbon emissions, as opposed to other European airlines that are primarily focused on investing in alternative jet fuels made from synthetic fuels and waste biofuels to reduce aircraft carbon emissions.

Short-haul flights are the foundation of the easyJet business model, and the low-cost airline offers affordable travel to over 31 countries. Sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) are a key part of easyJets’ strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, but cutting-edge technologies like hydrogen fuel are also crucial.

EasyJet wants to make sure that any investments in clean, emission-free technology like hydrogen are not offset by investments in SAFs. According to easyJet, short-haul aircraft of the future will be hydrogen-powered.

VNCW launches endeavor to highlight hydrogen’s pros and cons in transport

The trade group VNCW will create a best practice for society’s “transition” to hydrogen and convey the chain’s pros and cons.

The study examines hydrogen transport of hazardous compounds, resistance elimination, application, and safety. The association wants long-term hydrogen support. Clarifying application and safety factors helps meet climate targets and improves chain safety.

The chemical logistics trade association, TNO, and chain firms will create best practices. The Netherlands SVO scheme helps fund the project.

A practical analysis maps the playing field and describes the main players (industry, research centers, producers, and logistics). This program seeks hydrogen safety. This study provides structure and cohesiveness while investigating chemical chain application.

A practical demonstration of hydrogen safety in chemical logistics finishes the study. This step creates a dangerous goods transit best practice. The chain will spread best practices.

Himachal Pradesh inks green hydrogen MoU with HLC Green Energy

Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, took the initiative to involve the government with private actors in the production of green hydrogen as part of the mission to transform Himachal Pradesh into the first “Green State” by 2026. The government and M/s HLC Green Energy LLC on Monday exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The company plans to create 1.5 million metric tonnes (MMT) of green ammonia annually and 0.3 million metric tonnes (MMT) of green hydrogen.

Due to their proximity to water and logistics, Una and Kangra are likely to be chosen as the locations for this project, which has a land need of about 20–25 acres. In addition to attracting an investment of more than Rs 4,000 crore, the manufacturing plant intends to create jobs for roughly 2,500 people, both directly and indirectly.

Pnrr provides funding for five hydrogen buses in South Tyrol

Thanks to Pnrr funding, five brand-new hydrogen buses will go into operation in South Tyrol.

A little under 3.5 million euros worth of money were given to Sasa, the business that will buy the new buses. The Bolzano provincial council has adopted the rules for the financing of incentive projects, keeping with the theme of sustainable mobility.

California prepares its hydrogen hub application

California is putting the last touches on its application to become a hub for the manufacturing of hydrogen fuel, and environmental organizations are asking for more participation. This is hailed as a significant step toward a world with no carbon emissions. A public-private collaboration known as ARCHES, or the Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems, is in charge of overseeing the project.

According to ARCHES, hydrogen will not be mixed with natural gas in pipelines and will be produced using renewable energy. Chevron and SoCal Gas have provided advice on the application. The ARCHES website encourages meaningful interaction with neighborhood organizations and proponents of environmental justice.

The Department of Energy must receive the application by April 7. More than $1 billion in federal funding might be attracted to California by new hydrogen hubs.

MoU for Rs 4,000-cr green hydrogen and ammonia project signed in India

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked to establish a Rs 4,000 crore green hydrogen and ammonia project in the state.

The MoU was signed, according to CM Sukhvinder Sukhu, as part of the effort to have the nation’s first “Green State” by 2026.

The company planned to annually create 1.5 MMT of green ammonia and 0.3 MMT of green hydrogen. The project needed about 20 to 25 acres of land. Because to their proximity to water and logistics, Una or Kangra were likely to be chosen as the locations.

Over 2,500 people would be employed directly and indirectly as a result of the project.

Enagás and Redexis want public funding to capitalize on the H2Med green hydrogen

Enagás and Redexis connected during the forum “Wake Up Spain”, which was put on by El Espaol. They both agreed that public funding must be used to support the opportunity that the H2Med project affords.

The corridor can improve its competitiveness while also advancing the region. They have also requested an end to the doubts about green hydrogen, since they fear they may miss out on opportunities.

The gas distributors will jointly conduct a market consultation after updating the PNIEC. It will try to “balance hydrogen supply and demand in Spain.” As a result, it will identify the significant clients and vendors.
