Oort Energy produces direct solar hydrogen at commercial scale
In a first for the UK, Oort Energy claims to have produced direct solar hydrogen at commercial scale using a 250 kW prototype electrolyzer in collaboration with Harlaxton Engineering Services.
According to reports, the off-grid commercial electrolyzer system has been operating nonstop on solar power for several days, demonstrating the technology’s commercial viability and performance requirements for mass market deployment.
The facility is claimed to create 99.9995 percent pure clean hydrogen. The H2 production unit satisfies ISO14687 fuel cell requirements even though it is off grid.
