Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) has advised Smart Energies Transition (Smart Energies) on the acquisition of an Italian photovoltaic portfolio from Ensource Renewables.

The targets were two special purposes vehicles – Escogen and Ensource 3 – that own authorizations for the construction and installation of eight rooftop photovoltaic plants with an estimated power capacity of approximately 5 MW, located in the Lombardy, Veneto, Lazio and Marche regions in Italy.

Smart Energies is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) specializing in the development, financing, construction and operation of renewable projects across Europe and Africa.

The multidisciplinary WFW Italy team that advised Smart Energies was led by partner Carlo Cosmelli, working closely with Administrative Law partner Tiziana Manenti, and assisted by senior associate Cristina Betti and associates Roberta Sturiale, Anthony Bellacci and Antimo Rocco Nersita. Senior associate Alfredo Guacci Esposito advised on tax aspects of the transaction.
