Wood, has been granted a multi-year enterprise framework agreement (EFA) to provide comprehensive services to Shell’s worldwide projects.

The agreement signifies Wood’s continued commitment to supporting Shell’s initiatives in achieving energy security and driving energy transition projects, with a focus on carbon capture, low-carbon fuels, and hydrogen. With its expertise in decarbonization, digitalization, and asset life extension, Wood aims to enhance Shell’s assets across multiple regions, ushering in a sustainable and eco-conscious energy future.

Wood’s partnership with Shell dates back 70 years, reflecting a longstanding collaboration that has spanned over 20 countries and numerous significant projects. The EFA reinforces this strong alliance, empowering Wood to deliver specialized consulting, engineering, procurement, and project management solutions to Shell’s greenfield and brownfield projects.

One of the primary goals of the partnership is to ensure energy security while fostering the transition towards a low-carbon future. To achieve this, the focus lies on a range of transformative projects, including carbon capture initiatives, the adoption of low-carbon fuels, and the development of hydrogen-based solutions. These endeavors are at the forefront of the global effort to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions, thus contributing to a more sustainable and cleaner energy landscape.

The multi-year framework spans three years, with options for two one-year extensions, underscoring the long-term commitment of both companies to drive positive change in the energy sector. Wood’s consulting and engineering teams will be actively engaged across several continents, including Europe, North America, Latin America, South-East Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, demonstrating the global reach of the partnership and its impact on shaping a greener and more resilient energy infrastructure.

Central to Wood’s contributions are its core competencies in decarbonization and digitalization. Decarbonization strategies aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit the environmental impact of energy production and consumption. Through innovative technologies and sustainable practices, Wood seeks to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of Shell’s assets, thus aligning with global climate goals.

Moreover, digitalization plays a pivotal role in driving operational efficiency and optimization. By leveraging advanced digital tools and data analytics, Wood empowers Shell to make informed decisions, improve asset performance, and streamline project management processes, ultimately accelerating the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy systems.

Wood’s CEO, Ken Gilmartin, emphasizes the strategic alignment between Wood and Shell in striving to design a better energy future. This includes meeting the present energy demands while rapidly advancing energy transition initiatives. By combining their expertise and resources, Wood and Shell are committed to spearheading the transformation of the global energy landscape, fostering a sustainable and resilient future for generations to come.

The enterprise framework agreement between Wood and Shell symbolizes a powerful collaboration aimed at driving energy transition and combatting climate change. As the world grapples with the urgent need to decarbonize and embrace cleaner energy alternatives, partnerships like this exemplify the collective effort of engineering and consulting leaders to deliver innovative solutions that shape a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.
